Dorothy Mary (Tobkin) Ogroske, age 85, of Perham, MN, died Wednesday, January 30, 2008, in the tender loving hands of the staff of the Perham Memorial Home, Perham, MN, after experiencing a stroke on January 4, 2008. Funeral services will be held Monday, February 4, at 11:00 am at St. Henry's Catholic Church, Perham, with Father Joseph Herzing of St. Henry's Church, Perham, MN, presiding. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held Sunday, February 3, from 2:00 pm ? 6:00 pm at Schoeneberger Funeral Home, Perham, with a prayer service at 4:30 pm. A visitation will also be held one hour prior to the funeral at the funeral home.
Dorothy was born February 1, 1922, in Perham, MN, the daughter of Henry and Anna (Schmelz) Tobkin. She went to school in Gorman Township, District 158, and graduated from Perham High School, Perham, MN. She was united in marriage to Emil Ogroske on September 29, 1947, at St. Henry's Church, Perham, MN.
Dorothy and Emil farmed on land purchased from Rupert and Esther (Ogroske) Johnson in Gorman Township north of Perham until her retirement in 1993. Dorothy's favorite pastimes were sewing, traveling, card playing, dancing, cooking, baking, gardening, and helping her children with various activities. Her enthusiasm for sewing never waned. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren who always brought a smile to her face. Visits with her many area friends and relatives were commonly filled with laughter and good spirits.
Dorothy is survived by sons, James (Linda) Ogroske, Leon (Carol) Ogroske, John (Susan) Ogroske, all of Perham, MN; and daughter, Audrey (Tom) Tovson of Detroit Lakes, MN. Ten grandchildren, Jim Jr., Sam, Mike, Jodi, Bryan, Amanda, T.J., David, Kristi, and Sally; and six great grandchildren, Logan, Brandon, Justine, Joseph IV, Connor, and Tanner also survive Dorothy. Additionally, she is survived by her brother, Mac (Ruby) Tobkin, sisters-in-law, Millie (Gaylord) Matson, Esther (Rupert) Johnson, Helen (Edwin) Lenius, all of Perham, MN, and many nieces and nephews.
Dorothy is preceded in death by her parents, husband, two sisters, six brothers, and one grandchild.
