Duane Greenwaldt

April 23, 1945 — August 6, 2013

Duane E. Greenwaldt, age 68 of Dent, MN died peacefully on Tuesday, August 6, 2013 at Perham Living with his family at his side. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 10, 2013 beginning at 11:00 AM at the United Methodist Church in Dent, MN with Pastor Jerry Bass officiating. Visitation will be held at the church on Friday, August 9, 2013 from 5:00-8:00 PM with a prayer service at 7:00 PM. Visitation will resume one hour prior to the funeral at the church. Burial will be held at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Dent, MN.

Duane was born on April 23, 1945 in Bertha, MN to Oscar and Lena (Husfeld) Greenwaldt. At the age of 16, Duane went to live with Gordon and Fran Greenwaldt. Duane was united in marriage to Arlys (Brown) Lien on June 2, 1984 in Perham, MN. He worked for Greenwaldt Painting & Decorating from 1968-1992. He also painted on his own from 1984 until January of 2013. Duane drove several years for Nyhus Family Sales. He was very active at the Dent United Methodist Church. He was always ready and willing to do whatever needed to be done. Duane also served as Trustee for many years at the church. Duane enjoyed hunting and fishing and loved spending time with family and friends, especially the kids. He loved playing practical jokes and loved his cats.

Duane was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Arlys; his step-son, Gary Lien; and his step-grandson, Phillip Lien Alstadt.

Surviving Duane are his sisters, Marlys (John) Flath of Menahga, MN, Alverna (Gordon) Marweg of Dent, MN, and LaVonne (Brad) Williams of Twin Valley, MN; his brother, Vernon (Maria) Greenwaldt of Isle, MN; his step-children, Sheila (Arv) Widness of Richville, MN, Shelby Stoll of Perham, MN, Bonnie Lien of Richville, MN, Tammy (Jack) Hofmann of Richville, MN, and Randy (Lisa) Lien of Battle Lake, MN; several step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
