Edward Rux

Edward Albert Rux, known to most as Ed, was promoted to his eternal home with our Heavenly Father on January 14, 2026 at the age of 83 surrounded by five generations of family.

Ed was born to Emil and Annie (Weideman) Rux on April 1, 1942 in Evergreen Township, MN. It was at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church of Evergreen that Ed was baptized into faith on April 26, 1942 and confirmed on June 16, 1957. Ed’s confirmation verse, John 17:3, is a testament to the promise he held onto for eternal life by his unwavering faith in Jesus Christ.

Ed met the love of his life, Ardis Leeseberg and they were married on October 26, 1963. They made their home in Madison, MN for seven years before returning to the Evergreen area in 1971. During this time, they had two children, Dennis and Jeanette.

Over the years Ed worked as a D.H.I.A supervisor and M.V.B.A technician before joining Tuffy’s in 1975. In 1980 Ed purchased his Grandpa Albert’s Farm in Evergreen and he started his dairy farm where his family has many fond memories growing up. In 2001 they sold the farm and moved to Frazee. Ed took a job with New Life Farms where he worked until his retirement in October of 2018.

Ed was well known in his community as a “Jack of ALL Trades.” There was not much he couldn’t fix, build, or do, and he was always just a phone call away. He was known for his extensive abilities whether it be mechanical, electrical, plumbing, or his amazing carpentry skills. He took great pride in his work and spent many hours helping build the Evergreen church installing trim, building the communion rails, and much more. He was well known by family and friends for his cabinet building and numerous are blessed to have his projects in their homes.

In his spare time, Ed enjoyed gardening, fishing, hunting, chasing squirrels off the bird feeders, shooting gophers from the deck, Sunday afternoons listening to Polka, and spending time with his cherished family.

Ed’s Legacy is impossible to put into words, he loved full heartedly and gave so much of himself to all those he loved – his family, friends, and neighbors. He was loyal, hardworking, honorable, devoted, and most of all, he had strong faith.

The bible says in Ephesians 5:25, Husbands love your wives, just as Christ loved the Church. Ed loved Ardis just as Christ loved the church until his last breath and has set an example to all his family of what it is to truly love. His love for his children and grandchildren is immeasurable. He loved to talk about how his oldest granddaughter, Misse whom they helped raise was born on their wedding anniversary along with their first great-grandchild, Kianne. Ed had a special relationship with all his grandkids, giving special nicknames, showing off pictures, telling jokes, and even bantering with them with a big smile and laugh.

Ed will be missed terribly by his family. He leaves behind his wife of 63 years, Ardis; his children Dennis (Deb) Rux and Jeanette (Pat) Hodnefield; his nine grandchildren Misse (Chris) Paskey, Crystal (Justin) Shepersky, Jake (Sally) Rux, Jessica (Scot) Peck, KayCee (Corey) Rux, Jayson (Ashley) Moe, Joenah Hodnefield, Michael Beach, and Chase (Emily) Lietz; 15 great-grandchildren Kianne Hukreide, Matthew Rishovd, Lee Rishovd, Hallie Rishovd, Brody Paskey, Blake Shepersky, Kaleb Shepersky, Adyn Shepersky, Riley Peck, Brantley Peck, Jesse Rux, Annie Rux, Eve Rux, Theresa Paskey, Christopher Paskey, Joe Nealis, and three more on the way; three great-great-grandgirls who called him Super Grandpa, Raelyn, Amara, and Issabella Hukriede; his siblings Fritz Rux, Violet (Dave) Riggle, Shirley (Ernie) Jepson, Alice Peterson, and Sharon (Randy) Eikom; sisters-in-law Diane Rux and Lavella Struck; his brother-in-law Herb Jr. (Terri) Leeseberg; along with his many nieces, nephews, Godchildren, and close friends.

Ed was preceded in death by his parents; his in-laws Herb Sr. and Ida Leeseberg; his sister Marrieanne (Harland) Marshall; his brother George Rux; three brothers-in-law Delmer Peterson, Conrad Zimbleman, and Tyler Struck; and one sister-in-law Mert Rux.

Visitation will be 4:00-7:00 p.m. with a Prayer Service at 6:30 on Sunday, January 18 at Schoeneberger Funeral & Cremation Service in Perham. Visitation will resume from 10:00-11:00 a.m. followed by the Funeral Service at 11:00 on Monday, January 19 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Evergreen Township, rural Frazee. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
