Eileen Farbo, age 82 of Thief River Falls, MN and formerly of Perham, MN passed away on Sunday, December 14, 2025 at Valley Assisted Living.
Eileen was born April 20, 1943, the youngest of eight children to Odd and Fidessa (Wilkie) Farbo at their farmstead in Blooming Valley Township, Roseau County, MN.
She lived with her mom and dad most of her life, moving with them from the Blooming Valley farm in the spring of 1970 to a farm north of Greenbush, MN, then in the fall of 1981 moving with them to a farm north of New York Mills, MN.
Eileen began her schooling in a one-room school two miles from her home and finished her schooling at Haug-Leo School north of Greenbush.
She worked in Minneapolis, MN and Roseau, MN until her mom needed her to help work on the farm such as milking and in the flower and vegetable gardens and with the canning of the produce out of the vegetable gardens. Eileen had small hands so her job, when canning pickles, was to stuff the cucumbers into the jars. And boy, could she get a lot of cucumbers in those jars! Her favorite flowers in the garden were roses and dahlias.
She had a number of kittens on the various farms, however, her last kitten, Casper, was her favorite.
She enjoyed working both word-find puzzles and jigsaw puzzles. In fact, she carried a word-find book in her purse. She also enjoyed playing BINGO and the slots at Shooting Star, plus visiting with the slot players beside her.
Eileen belonged to The Degree of Honor Club for many years. One of her special memories regarding the club was attending a Degree of Honor Convention in Medora, ND.
One of her favorite places to go when she was younger was to the Assiniboine Park Zoo in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. Her mom and dad always made a picnic out of those outings.
Eileen was preceded in death by her parents; siblings, William Farbo, Richard Farbo, Dessie (Bill) Parks, Gay (Richard) Phillips, Kay (Lowell) Anderson, Pat (Ray) Udelhofen and Dinah Burkel; nieces, Tina Burkel-McKeever and Marion Phillips; and nephews Mark Burkel and David Phillips.
Surviving Eileen is her sister-in-law, Darlene Farbo; brother-in-law, David Burkel; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
