Eldred P. Wendt, age 79, of Perham, MN, died Saturday, February 26, 2011, at Emmanuel Nursing Home, Detroit Lakes, MN, following his hospitalization at Sanford Medical Center in Fargo, ND.
Eldred Paul Wendt was born October 7, 1931, the son of Alfred and Alma Wendt in Corliss Township, MN. He was baptized on November 22, 1931, and confirmed on June 10, 1945 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Corliss. Eldred was united in marriage to Loretta Jorgenson on September 21, 1957, and the couple made their home in Perham, MN, until the time of his death.
Eldred was a veteran of the US Army and served in the Signal Corps during the Korean War. He was a skilled carpenter starting his career building cabinets in his own cabinet shop in Perham. Eldred then worked 20 years as a construction superintendent for Twin City Construction of Fargo, ND. He then went on to work locally for Pier Construction in Ottertail, MN, before retiring in 1994. Eldred will be remembered for taking pride in his gardening skills.
Eldred is survived by his wife of 53 years, Loretta; two daughters, Vicki (Mike) Uselman, Carrollton, TX; and LaRae (Paul) Witsaman, Ft. Worth, TX; three sons, Rollin Wendt, Perham, MN; Rodney Wendt, Fargo, ND; and Ronald (Patricia) Wendt, Shoreview, MN; twenty-two grandchildren; five great grandchildren; a brother, Vernon (Donna) Wendt, Vergas, MN; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceding Eldred in death are his parents and a brother, Arlin Wendt.
