Eleanor Rader

Eleanor “Ellie” Elsie Rader, age 106 of Frazee, MN, passed away on Thursday, June 19, 2025 at Perham Health.

Ellie was born October 7, 1918 to Henry and Henrietta (Schmalz) Drewes in Toad Lake Township, MN and grew up on the family farm there. Ellie met the love of her life, Levi Rader, and the two were united in marriage on June 5, 1940. Their marriage was blessed with seven children. She and Levi farmed together for many years, and made it a priority to go dancing together every week.

Ellie’s family describes her as, “tenacious as a bulldog.” Ellie loved to tend to her flower garden, play bingo, go bowling, and enjoyed deer hunting, but even more she loved all babies and would wrap them up until baked.

Ellie is survived by her daughters, Deana (Dennis) Bahls, Joan Sazama, Bonnie (John) Herrmann; son, Ken (Charlotte) Rader; many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren; and several other relatives and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Henrietta; husband, Levi; children, Marley (Harry) Hoese, James Rader, Bob Rader; grandson, Lance Anderson; and all of her brothers and sisters.

Visitation will be from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m., followed by a Memorial Service at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, June 30, 2025 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church of Evergreen in rural Frazee. A Private Family Interment will take place at the church cemetery.
