Emma Ida Viola von Proschwitz, age 104, of Perham, MN, died November 15, 2011, at Perham Living. Emma was born in Corliss Township, rural Perham, on April 28, 1907, the youngest daughter of Fred and Anna (Aigler) Steeke. She was baptized at St. John's Lutheran Church, Corliss Township, on May 19, 1907. At thirteen years of age, Emma was confirmed in her faith at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Perham. Emma married Gustav von Proschwitz, at Trinity First Lutheran Church, Minneapolis, MN, on June 20, 1946. She and Gustav made their home near Deerwood, MN, on the south side of Serpent Lake. Gustav died on October 13, 1993. His death brought Emma, in 1994, back to Perham where she resided until her death. Emma loved creating "fancy" work and flowers.
Surviving Emma are her nieces, Elsie (Roy) Martin, Lenora Hartwig, Leona Matz and Emmy Rosen, all of Perham.
Preceding Emma in death is her husband, Gustav; her parents; sisters, Amelia Matz, Olga Ledgar and Lena Johnson and brothers, Edward, Fred, Charlie and Henry Steeke.
