Ethel Smith

Ethel M. Smith, age 90 of Richville, MN passed away Monday, March 5, 2018 in Sanford Medical Center, Fargo, ND. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. followed by the funeral service at 12:00 noon on Friday, March 9 at the Richville United Methodist Church, Richville, MN. Pastor Rod Tornquist will officiate. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery near Dent, MN.

Ethel was born near Jamestown, ND to Hiram and Ida (Ludvigson) Mizener on December 31, 1927. She married Hugh Wallace Smith Sr. on December 3, 1947 in Dent.

Ethel enjoyed playing cards and listening to her audiobooks. She liked dining out and playing BINGO with her friends. She will be sincerely missed.

Surviving Ethel are her children Sharon Karger of Richville, Hugh Jr. of Hoyt Lakes, MN and James (Kim) of Florala, AL; her grandchildren Jamie (Cartro) Carter of Minneapolis, MN, Kenneth (Lisa) Karger of Princeton, MN, Sarah Lund of Hoyt Lakes and Daniel Karger of Richville; her great-grandchildren Andrew Karger, Bailey Karger, Hana Kawkins, Braiden Hawkins and McKenzie Karger; her twin sister Edith Olsen of WA; along with numerous other family members.

Preceding Ethel in death were her parents; her husband Hugh Sr. in 2011; her grandson Bradley Smith; her daughter-in-law Pat Smith; and her five sisters Mary, Em, Nel, Alice and Nancy.
