Garnett Zsedeny

November 2, 1933 — July 16, 2023

Garnett Joseph Zsedeny, 89, of Dent, MN passed away peacefully July 16, 2023 at his home with his family by his side.

Garnett was born in Bridgeville, DE to Stephen and Frances (Newell) Zsedeny. ln 1954, he married Dora Lee (Passwaters). After his first son, Garnett Branch, was born he decided to enlist in the Air Force. He completed basic training in May, 1955 and served until Feb, 1977.

His second son, Gene Everett, was born at Dover Air Force Base in Dover, DE in 1956. They moved often, as was the life of a military family.

From his military schooling, he became a weather observer. His superiors saw how sharp he was and helped him get into officer training school at Oklahoma State University in Stillwater, Oklahoma. He became an electronics and communications officer, which ultimately led to working in small radar bases throughout the United States. He retired honorably as an Air Force Major.

After retirement, he and Dora built a home in Delaware. An opportunity arose where they decided to purchase 100 acres in upstate New York, where their property had fresh springs.

Because of this, Garnett built a trout farm, selling fresh trout to local restaurants and allowing small groups, such as physically handicapped individuals to be able to fish from shore with his help. lt was decided to move to Texas, and summer in Minnesota, to be closer to family.

On April 28,2013, Garnett married Carol (Findora). They made their home permanently in Minnesota. They enjoyed biking on their own bike path, and all the wildlife, to include feeding the many birds. Garnett also played steel guitar, building 3 of his own.

Garnett is survived by his wife, Carol; his son Gene (Linda); his grandchildren, Jessica Hibl of Fargo, ND, Christa (Jake) Zsedeny of Nowthen, MN, Riley Zsedeny of Nowthen, MN; and his great granddaughters, Ciara Hibl, Olivia Weber, and Charlotte Weber.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Dora, and his son, Garnett.

A Private Family Memorial Service was held to be held at a later date.
