George Borgerding

October 14, 1922 — March 11, 2014

George Borgerding, 91, of Dent, died on March 11. Born in Melrose, MN, he and his wife Rosie raised their 11 children in Prior Lake MN. He enjoyed being part of his kids' life, joining in family softball games and traveling extensively to see his children in their adult lives. A carpenter by trade, he worked alongside his brother Dave and also with many of his children.

He was an avid fisherman. In retirement, George fished McDonald Lake in Dent nearly every day. He was joined in his boat by Rosie, and sometimes kids and grandkids. Frequently, he shared filets of his catch with those in need and those who could no longer fish for themselves. George also loved to sing, whether around a campfire, with a group of seniors, or with his kids.

George was a WWII veteran, serving both overseas and stateside in an officer training program. He was an active member of the American Legion, and organized several events, including one in which he helped take disabled veterans fishing.

He is survived in death by his wife Rosie, his children Julie (July), Tom, Jill (Romans), Joyce, Jean, Ted, Tim, Terry, Todd, Tony, and Jo (Sharma), 19 grandchildren, and 1 great-grandchild.
