George Ralph Doom

George Ralph Doom, 90, of Perham, MN, passed away September 25, 2026 at Ecumen-Emmanuel Nursing Home in Detroit Lakes, MN.

George was born on July 8, 1936 in Marshall, MN to Henry and Clara (Cauwels) Doom. George was the oldest of 10 children who built their lives through farming in Marshall and Canby, MN.

George graduated from high school in 1954. He then served active duty in the US Navy from 1955 to 1957, and then in the reserves for four years. After his service to the country, he found his calling as a manager of feed mills in Sioux Falls, West Fargo and Perham, He then found his passion as a truck driver for Foltz Trucking in Detroit Lakes, until the age of 80.

George married Phyllis Christianson in 1959. They raised three children; Jason, Tammy, and Craig in Perham, MN and later divorced. He met Suzanne Roble in 1984 at a high school football game played by their son's opposing teams. They were married in 1993, spending their years traveling, attending grandchildren's activities, winters in Florida, and enjoying time at Paul Lake.

He was known for his love of putting on turkey barbecues, gathering with family and friends at the lake, and his fondness for Oliver tractors. He held dear the memories created at the Perham Masonic Lodge, and years as a Shriner where the bonds of brotherhood brought joy and camaraderie to his life. He is a member of Calvary Lutheran Church in Perham.

George is survived by his loving wife, Suzanne Roble-Doom; son, Craig (Denise) Doom, Sarasota, FL; daughter, Tammy (Loren) Hegge, Bradenton, FL; stepson, Timothy (Carrie) Roble, Frazee, MN; stepdaughter, Shelley (Richard) Guida, Hawley, MN; grandchildren, Amanda (Patrick) McKuen, Erin Thomas, Matthew (Kathleen) Guida, Jordan Guida, Jacob Roble, Ryan (Paige), Roble; great-grandchildren; Heather Thomas, Brooke Thomas, Oaklynn Guida; siblings, Carolyn (Ralph) Heib, Charlene (Charles) Streff, Marcine (Robert) Hemming, Marylynn Williams, Kevin (Julie) Doom, and Joe Doom.

He cherished his family, and his legacy will continue through them.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Clara; son, Jason; granddaughter, Heather; and brothers, Denis, Daniel, and Roger.

Visitation will be held at Schoeneberger Funeral & Cremation Service in Perham from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Friday, October 2, 2026, followed by the Memorial Service at 1:00 p.m. Interment will be at Calvary Memorial Cemetery in Perham.
