George Pierson

January 28, 1920 — July 8, 2015

George Kellogg Pierson of Perham, MN formally of Huntsville TX, passed away on July 8, 2015. He was born January 28, 1920 at home in Burke County, ND to Clarence and Hattie (Sandberg) Pierson. When he was 3 years old they moved to Mobridge, SD. He grew up there and graduated from Mobridge High. He got his love for music from his grandmother Hattie Kellogg who taught him how to play the clarinet and saxophone. While growing up he learned to hunt and fish and continued to enjoy these hobbies all his life.

In 1940, he met the love of his life, Frances in Minot, ND. They were married on January 3, 1941, soon after George was transferred to Fargo, ND with Sweetheart Bakery. While in Fargo, Diane and Cary were born. In 1945, they moved back to Minot when he took a job with Farmers Union Grain & Supply. Cary died of SIDs shortly after their move. Both Yvonne and Georgia were born in Minot.

In 1959, George was transferred to GTA's main headquarters in St. Paul, MN. In Minnesota he worked for multiple farm implement companies. He retired from TCI of Benson, MN in 1978 where he served as the president of sales for many years.

They moved to Huntsville, TX in the fall of 1978. George said his and Fran's best years where in TX. He loved to golf year round and the hunting and fishing weren't bad either.

Due to health issues they moved to Perham in 2005 to be close to their daughters. Fran passed away on February 22, 2015.

George is survived by his three daughters, Diane (Lee) Sherman of Ottertail, MN, Yvonne Huberty of Blaine, MN, and Georgia (Dave) Thompson of Ottertail; eight grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and his niece, Mariea (Lloyd) Holter of Kenmare, ND.

The family would like to thank all the wonderful caregivers at Briarwood, the Thomas House, Prairie View and the Hospice of the Red River Valley. They treated both George and Fran with love and respect. In memory of both George and Fran, a joint memorial service will be held on July 16, 2015 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Perham. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. followed by the service at 11:00 a.m. with lunch to follow.
