George Ressmeyer

George Evans Ressmeyer, age 81, of Richville , MN , formerly of Burnsville , MN , died on April 28, 2010 , at the Perham Memorial Hospital .


George was born March 24, 1929 , in Pipestone, MN, to Henry and Harriet (Evans) Ressmeyer. He grew up in Woodstock , MN , and graduated from Pipestone High School in 1947. After working for Zwart Electric in Edgerton he moved to Kimball, SD, opened an electric store with his brother-in-law, Wes Stevens, and worked for REA to bring electricity to the ranches in that area. On November 22, 1949 , George was united in marriage to Elaine Schuld. After three years in Kimball, he attended Dunwoody Institute in Minneapolis , MN , where he studied to become an electrician. Upon graduating in 1954, he joined General Electric Medical Systems and worked there until retiring 37 years later. In 1992, George and Elaine moved to Dead Lake , MN , where he enjoyed fishing, hunting, entertaining his granddaughters, and in the later years, golfing, golfing and golfing. He was a member of Maine Presbyterian Church, serving as their computer expert, and was made an honorary member of the Presbyterian Women in recognition for all his hard work done on their behalf.



George is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Elaine Ressmeyer; son, Jim (Mary) Ressmeyer and daughter, Peggy (Anwar) Bhimani; four granddaughters, Jenny Ressmeyer, Jill (Roger) Caspers, Katie (Tim) Hauser, and Sarah Bhimani; five great-grandchildren; and two nephews, Steve and Paul Stevens.



Preceding George in death are his parents; sister and brother-in-law, Doris and Wes Stevens; and nephew, Don Stevens.
