George Ernest Rux, age 78, passed away peacefully on December 1, 2025, surrounded by family after a short but courageous battle with Acute Leukemia.
He was born in Perham, MN on October 20, 1947, to Emil and Annie (Weidemann) Rux. George grew up in Frazee, MN, where he was baptized and confirmed at Evergreen Church. He graduated from Frazee High School in 1966 and soon after enlisted in the United States Army, proudly serving his country during the Vietnam War.
Upon returning home, George worked many jobs over the years, giving his best wherever he went. His career included Dynamic Homes, Tuffy's Pet Foods, Menahga Concrete, Daggett Truck Line, Bauck Busing, and Horstman Trucking. He also owned and operated his own trucking company and most recently drove for Bloomquist Trucking. In addition to trucking, George spent many years farming, a role that connected him deeply to the land and community he loved.
On June 9, 1979, George married the love of his life, Diane Brasel, at Calvary Lutheran Church in Perham, Minnesota. Together they built a life rooted in family, and hard work.
A dedicated veteran, George was a lifelong member of VFW Post 4020. Over the years, he held numerous leadership roles, including Post Commander, and most recently Quartermaster. His involvement extended beyond Perham, contributing to VFW initiatives and supporting veterans across Minnesota, including 9th District Commander. For many years, he also looked forward to MEA Weekend, when he called BINGO for Perham Fireman's Bingo-something he enjoyed and took great pride in.
Family meant everything to George. Over the years, they took memorable trips to Itasca State Park over Fourth of July, visited Duluth several times, and made a couple special family trips to Disney World. The grandkids and great-grandkids loved watching Grandpa take on the biggest ride there-Mt. Everest. Though he proudly rode it once, he was finished for the rest of the day, much to everyone's amusement.
George is survived by his wife of 46 years, Diane (Brasel) Rux; and his children: Sandria Torres of Brandon, MN, and her children Brittany and Diana, great-grandson Wyatt, Chad (Shawn) Brasel of Perham, MN, and granddaughter Casey Coudron and great-grandchildren Jasz and Tyrus Coudron; and Barb (Steve) Felt of Perham and her children Mercedies Bjorklund, Jayce (Sara) Brown, Amanda Felt, and great-grandchildren Axtyn, Kalley, Paetynn, and Caysen, and great-grandson Emmitt Torres whom they cared for and raised.
He is also survived by grandchildren of his late son Marvin Rux: Aaron Larson and Desiree Rux; and by the child of his late son Darin Rux: Miranda (Jace) Willprecht and great-grandson Toby.
George is further survived by his siblings: Fritz Rux of Blue River, Oregon; Violet (David) Riggle of Ogema, MN; Shirley (Ernie) Jepson of Frazee, MN; Alice Peterson of Menahga, MN; Ed (Ardis) Rux of Frazee, MN; and Sharon (Randy) Eikom of Tolna, North Dakota; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Emil and Annie Rux, in-laws John & Ann Brasel his sister Marianne Marschall, and his sons Marvin and Darin.
George will be remembered for his unwavering dedication to family, his service to his country and fellow veterans, and his honest, hardworking spirit. His legacy lives on in the lives he touched.
