Geromaine Mary Ann (Kunza) Huebsch, age 88, of Perham, MN went peacefully to meet her heavenly Father on March 23, 2026 in Perham.
Geromaine was born February 2, 1938, the youngest daughter of John and Laurie Kunza. She grew up in a lively household of five brothers and three sisters on a farm in rural Perham. After graduating from Perham High School in 1956, she moved to the big city with her sister, Ellie, to begin her working career in Minneapolis at the Grain Exchange and later at Twin City Federal.
On September 5, 1959, Geromaine was united in marriage to the love of her life, Frederick Huebsch at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Perham. Shortly after welcoming their first child, they returned to Perham to raise their family of five children, building a life rooted in family, community, and faith.
Over the years, Geromaine and Fred built a number of homes—from Kraus Park in 1968, to Fort Thunder Road in 1976, and later their retirement home on the Perham golf course in 2006. They also cherished time spent at their log cabin on Toad Lake and winters in Arizona, where Geromaine formed many lifelong friendships.
Geromaine’s life was devoted to the kind of work that mattered most: taking care of her people and her home. She had a gift for making people feel special. Whether you were family, a friend, or someone she had just met, Geromaine greeted you with a warm smile and a couple of soft pats on the hand. Her well-kept home was a source of pride, bringing balance and comfort to her family and guests. She loved to entertain; cooking and baking thoughtfully-prepared meals that she somehow made look effortless. She loved a good party for any reason, or no reason at all.
A talented quilter, Geromaine was known for her intricate hand quilting and eye for detail, even earning a Grand Champion award. She made dozens of quilts, each one a labor of love. She also enjoyed traveling the world, playing cards, and spending time around a table, especially over games of rummy, bridge, and Mahjongg.
Known for her collection of white blouses and her polished look, she had a style all her own. Through life’s ups and downs, her answer was simple and joyful: “Let’s go shopping.”
Geromaine served her community faithfully. She spent several years as chairwoman on the funeral committee at St. Henry’s Catholic Church, where she also lovingly cared for the altar linens. She was part of the first town celebration planning committee and was actively involved in the Turkey Growers Association alongside Fred.
Above all, Geromaine will be remembered as cheery, positive, encouraging, social, and stylish. She had a way of bringing out the best in everyone around her (including Doug!). Laughter was her medicine, and her family was her greatest joy.
She was a cherished and loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Fred, and her children: Nancy (Calvin) Dockter, children Amy and Nick; Jennifer (Robin) Hanson, children Dusty, Courtney, and Jason; Doug (Sue) Huebsch, children Abby, Becca, and Mark; Peggy (Chris) Rutten, children Sam, Emily, Isaac, and Maria; and Stacie (Dennis) White, children Peter, Allie, Katie, Tony, and Casey; as well as 31 great-grandchildren. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
