Glenn Shaw

Glenn M. Shaw, age 61 of Henning, Minnesota died Wednesday, January 16, 2013 at the Good Samaritan Center in Battle Lake, Minnesota. A memorial service will be held on Friday, January 18, 2013 beginning at 2:00 PM at the Unite Methodist Church in Hewitt, Minnesota with Pastor Jill Pawlowski officiating. Visitation will be held two hours prior to the service at the church.

Glenn Myron Shaw was born on January 20, 1951, the son of Bernard and Donna (Chapin) Shaw in Perham, Minnesota. He attended school in Perham. He was a boy full of energy, enjoying the sports of fishing and hunting; along with him was his loyal dog Kiyi. Glenn was raised in the country near Richville, Minnesota giving him plenty of room to roam. He continued his love of the outdoor sports until he no longer could walk the woods or get in a boat by himself.

Glenn joined the Navy in 1969 and was honorably discharged in 1970 due to medical reasons. The following year, 1971, he met his wife to be, Valerie Schultz from Frazee Minnesota. On August 5, 1972 they were united in marriage at the Evergreen Lutheran Church of Evergreen, Minnesota. The couple lived near Richville, Minnesota for 35 years raising four boys; living the last four and half years near Henning, Minnesota.

Glenn was involved in his sons' baseball games not only as a supporter, but also as a coach. He attended all the games rain or shine. As a young man he played on a team loving the competitiveness.

Glenn was a heavy equipment operator, an insurance agent, and owned a wrecking yard. He graduated from Detroit Lakes Vocational College with a degree in auto body. As he worked in the yard he also painted cars and did mechanical work.

Surviving Glenn is his wife, Valerie; sons and grandchildren, Chaunce (Jennifer) and Siqoya of Frazee, Minnesota, Corey (Michelle) and Preston and Owen of Perham, Minnesota, Curt (Amanda) and Tucker and McCoy of Richville, Minnesota, and Chad of Henning, Minnesota; mother, Donna (Paul) Lwein; sister, Faye (Alan) Damlo; along with many aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces, and cousins.

Preceding Glenn in death is his father, Bernard; his brother, Neal; grandpa and grandma Chapin, and grandpa and grandma Shaw.
