Golda A. Benke, 93, of Perham, MN, died at Perham Health on January 17, 2012. Golda Ann Volkmann was born on February 4, 1918, the daughter of Ernest and Anna (Quiram) Volkmann, at home in Dead Lake Township, rural Dent, MN. She was baptized and confirmed at St. John's Lutheran Church, Dora Township, rural Dent. In this same church, on September 9, 1939, Golda was united in marriage with Albert G. Benke with a reception at home. They celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary, in 2009, just prior to Al's death. Golda was church organist, Sunday School teacher and a member of the LWML and enjoyed being part of the Bible Study Group. She also baked many wedding cakes and served as Al's Business Manager.
Surviving Golda are her children, Giny Anderson-Mulari, Gary (Karen) Benke and Lynnette (Ken) Krekelberg; eleven grandchildren, Mark (Karen) Wendt, Brian Wendt, Lisa (Bob) Jenson, Shelley Kroshus, LeAnn (Jeff) Cummings, David (Brenda) Anderson, Ken (Lisa) Benke, Jeff (Sara) Benke, Kristopher (Angie Hershberger) Krekelberg, BJ (Amy) Krekelberg and Casey Krekelberg; eighteen great-grandchildren, Jesse (Liz) Wendt, Amzie Wendt, Michael Wendt, Lindsay, Josh, and Cody Jenson, Aubree, Brooke and Connor Kroshus, Dylan, Braydon and Gavin Cummings, Austin Anderson, and Kimberly, Katie, Kayla, Kelsey and Skyler Benke; four great-great-grandchildren, Brendon and Rylie Wendt, Brooklyn Benke and Noah Stuart as well as many nieces, nephews and good friends.
Proceeding Golda in death is her husband, Al and her siblings, Ella Sonnenberg, Walter Volkmann, Reinholdt Volkmann, Elsie Dusterhoft, Carl Volkmann and Martha Sharmer.
