Helen Krueger

November 27, 1922 — April 17, 2012

Helen was born November 27, 1922 in Gorman Township, rural Perham, MN. Her parents were the late Henry August and Alice Leona (Greiff) Mattfeld. She attended country school in Gorman Township. In 1941, Helen moved to Vancouver, WA, to work for Kaiser Shipyards. On April 20, 1947, Helen was united in marriage to Warren Krueger at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Perham, MN. Helen was employed for many years at Perham Bakery. She was a devoted wife, mother and homemaker. She enjoyed flower and vegetable gardening, playing cards, games and working on puzzles. Helen looked forward to spending time with family, friends, and watching her grandchildren's activities. She was also an avid Twins fan. Her faith in the Lord was very important to her. She enjoyed singing in the church choir, bible study, and the LWML. Helen and Warren enjoyed wintering in Weslaco, TX. She was also a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary.

Helen is survived by 4 children: Renee (Eugene) Grover, of Grand Rapids, MN, Alan (Laurie) Krueger, of Perham, MN, Connie Krueger, of Maple Lake, MN, and Pamela (Gregg) Western, of Fergus Falls MN; grandchildren, Craig Grover, Heather Angell, Katherine Cowger, David Krueger, Jacob Western, Samuel Western and 7 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by sisters Ardene Bartness, Gladys Ramus and a brother, Alvin Mattfeld.

Preceding Helen in death were husband, Warren; parents, Henry and Alice Mattfeld; brothers, Clarence, George, Lester, Edward, Edwin, Henry, Joseph, William, and sisters, Laura and Edna.
