Henry "Bud" Johnson

June 7, 1940 — March 21, 2018

On March 21, 2018, Henry “Bud” Johnson, our beloved husband, father and friend went home to his Lord.

He was born on June 7, 1940 in Perham, MN, the son of Rupert and Esther (Ogroske) Johnson.  He was the oldest of four children. He graduated from Perham High School in 1958, and then went off to Macalester College in St. Paul, MN. He entered the military in 1961, and returned to college at Moorhead State University, graduating in 1966. On November 19, 1966, he married his “Molly” – Marlene Fellerer. He was an amazing, loving husband and a wonderful, loving father to their two sons Eric and Chad, and his daughters-in-law Lynn and Jody.

Henry was an accountant at Control Data in Minneapolis for 10 years before moving home to his family farm. He, Marlene and their boys farmed there and spent countless hours working together, laughing together, and loving each other, held together by God’s great love.

He loved his faith, his home and family, his friends, his work, his hunting, his travels, his SCUBA diving and laughing until his head hurt.

Bud is survived by his wife Marlene; his sons Eric (Lynn) of Bemidji, MN and Chad (Jody) of Madison, WI; his brothers Robert (Pat) Johnson of San Diego, CA and Depot Bay, OR and David (Helene) Johnson of Perham; his sister Jean Johnson (Mike Michlovic) of Moorhead, MN; brothers-in-law Joseph, Robert, John and Jim Fellerer; and his nephews and nieces whom he loved.

Bud was preceded in death by his parents, Rupert “Rupe” and Esther.

Bud’s family cannot thank everyone enough for their outpouring of love and concern and for Father Matt and the priests who gave of their time to celebrate Bud’s life through the liturgy and at the prayer service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to The Bridge Community Pantry or St. Henry’s Area School.

Visitation will be 4:00-8:00 p.m. with the sung Chaplet of The Divine Mercy at 6:30 p.m. and parish prayers at 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 25 at Schoeneberger Funeral & Cremation Service in Perham. Visitation will resume at 10:00 a.m. followed by the funeral Mass at 11:30 a.m. on Monday, March 26 at St. Henry’s Catholic Church in Perham. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
