Isabel A. Kent, age 79 of Perham, formerly of Morris, MN died on September 13, 2012 at Sanford Health in Fargo, ND. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, September 18, beginning at 10:30 am at St. Lawrence Catholic Church, rural Perham. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held at Schoeneberger Funeral Home on Monday, September 17, 2012 from 5:00 – 8:00 pm with a prayer service at 7:00 pm. Visitation will also be held one hour prior to the funeral at the church.
Isabel entered this world on August 1, 1933 in Benson, MN to the proud parents of Henry and Gladys (Knutson) Hughes. She was one of five children: brothers, Mick, Jerry and Frank and sister, Mary Ellen. She attended Benson elementary and high school where she excelled and graduated at the age of 16. She later attended Moorhead State College for one year and also attended college in Mankato, MN for another year.
Isabel met the love of her life, Stanley "Stan" Kent, and was united in marriage seven years later on June 11, 1955 in Benson, MN. They became the proud parents of six children: Steve, Tim, Coleen, Kevin, Shannon and Shawn. She was a dedicated wife and mother.
Isabel loved to read, write poetry and cook. She was a devoted Christian and friend. She had a great sense of humor and loved a good game of cards. Watching her grandchildren's sporting events was something she enjoyed but she especially loved to be around her family and friends at their lake home.
Surviving Isabel is her husband, Stanley; son, Steve (Nancy) Kent; son, Tim (Julie) Kent; daughter, Coleen Berneking; son, Kevin (Sherri) Kent; daughter, Shannon Kent; daughter Shawn Kietzman; grandchildren, Erin, Brianne, Ross, Tyler, Josh, Jordan, Michael, Jake, Derek, Jarod, Justin and Cory; great-grandchildren, Isabella, Alec, Bennet, Cooper, and Avery; brother, Frank (Bonnie) Hughes; sister, Mary Ellen (Phil) Radford; and aunt, Myrtle Knudson.
Preceding Isabel in death are her parents, Henry and Gladys Hughes; brothers, Mick Hughes and Jerry Hughes; and grandson, Brian Kent.
