James Pauly

James A. Pauly, age 74, died October 1, 2025, with his family by his side in Perham, MN.

James (Jim) was born June 17, 1951 in Shakopee, MN, to James and Florence Pauly from Carver, MN. Jim was fascinated by trains from little on and worked for the railroad his entire adult life. He was a long-time resident of Brainerd, MN before he moved to Perham to reside on property that his grandparents homesteaded on Little Pine Lake.

Jim lived his life simply and in his own way. Though he made a good living, he re-used everything. Whether it was having parents who grew up in the depression or his commitment to the values of St. Francis, Jim never threw anything away if he thought he could use it down the road. You could often find him playing the card games, sheephead, or cribbage with his family or friends in the fish house or at the cabin. He loved fishing, his motorcycle, VW Bug, and music. He was a devout catholic, committed to prayer and the church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Florence Pauly. He is survived by his brother, Terry (Becky) Pauly; sisters, Mary (Mike) Huss, Joan (Dan) Schneider; Jim was preceded in death by his parents, James and Florence Pauly. He is survived by his brother, Terry (Becky) Pauly; sisters, Mary (Mike) Huss, Joan (Dan) Schneider; along with beloved nephews and nieces, cousins, friends and extended family members.

Visitation will be at 11:00-12:00 p.m. followed by the Memorial Mass at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, May 29, 2026 at St. Henry’s Catholic Church in Perham, with a luncheon to follow.
