James Bistrum

James E. Bistrum, age 71 of Perham, MN died Thursday, November 16, 2017 in his home. Visitation will begin at 12:00 noon followed by the memorial service at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, November 20 at Schoeneberger Funeral & Cremation Service in Perham. Pastor Pam Logan will officiate.
Jim was born in Perham MN on June 27, 1946 the son of Leo and Evelyn (Ebeling) Bistrom. He graduated Perham High School in 1964. He worked for Land O’Lakes in Perham for 37 years and retired in 2003 when the plant closed. Jim enjoyed hunting, fishing, feeding and watching the birds and watching movies, baseball and football.
Jim was united in marriage on January 15, 1966 to Elaine Meier at St. John's Lutheran Church in Corliss Township.
Jim was a past member of the Perham Lakes Lions receiving a Melvin Jones Award, was a member of the NRA, MN Darkhouse Association and the Lady Slipper Garden Club. Jim also enjoyed working with the Perham Express/Trolley during the Turtle Races in Perham.
Surviving Jim is his wife Elaine of 51 years; one son Steven (Fay) of Shakopee, MN; one brother Joseph (Carole) of Bellbrook, OH; two step-grandchildren Denise (Luke) Hanson and James Werner; one step-great-grandson Jakob Hanson; along with several nieces and nephews.
Preceding Jim in death were his parents.
