James Siebels

June 20, 1931 — December 14, 2010

James "Jim" Siebels, age 79, of Perham, MN, died Tuesday, December 14, 2010, at Sanford Health in Fargo, ND, surrounded by his family.

Jim was born on June 20, 1931, in Perham, MN, the son of Joseph H. and Susan (Seifert) Siebels. Jim was a lifelong resident of Perham. He graduated from Perham High School in 1949 and after graduation entered the military. Jim served in the United States Navy, stationed in Norfolk, VA, from 1955 until his honorable discharge in 1958. After his service in the military he returned to MN and went to Moorhead State University for 2 years. When Jim returned to Perham he worked at Pine Lakes Lodge where he met the love of his life, Marilyn (Rogert). Jim and Marilyn were married at St. Henry's Catholic Church on April 4, 1959. He was the proud father of two sons, Jeff and Mark. Jim spent countless hours at their football and basketball games as well as track and field events. He was the president of the North Dakota Retriever club. Jim had a dog that was a National Qualifier and spent many happy days training and running his dogs. He was an active member of the Knights of Columbus, serving as Grand Knight. Jim will always be remembered for his faithful service to the Churches of St. Stanislaus and St. Henry's.

Jim was employed with Land O Lakes Creamery until 1960 and then for the Post Office in Perham until his retirement in 1994. Upon retiring, Jim was able to spend more time doing the things he loved the most. He was an avid fisherman and spent countless hours on the lake, both summer and winter fishing for walleye. Jim also looked forward to November and deer hunting. He followed the Minnesota Gophers, Twins and Vikings faithfully, checking the paper daily for the latest box scores and the daily crossword. He spent winters in Port Arkansas, TX, enjoying the beach, sun and great friends. Jim was an active member of the PACC and could be found walking most mornings. More than anything Jim enjoyed spending time with Marilyn and their children and grandchildren. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends.

Jim is survived by his loving wife of over 50 years, Marilyn; two sons, Jeff (Jill Link), Perham, MN; and Mark (Lorie), St. Peter, MN; seven grandchildren, Brandi (Paul) Johnson, Justin, Beth, Mackenzie, Katrina, Maria and Joseph; 2 great grandchildren, Ryan Johnson and Matthew Johnson; and a sister, Mildred (Don) Noaeill.

Preceding Jim in death are his parents; brother, Robert "Bob"; and sister, Cecilia Gustafson.
