James Wokasch

James E. Wokasch, age 82 of Ottertail, Minnesota died Wednesday, December 12, 2012 at Sanford Health in Fargo, North Dakota. Funeral mass will be held on Wednesday, December 19, 2012 beginning at 10:30 AM at St. Lawrence Catholic Church, rural Perham, with Father George Michael officiating. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 18, 2012 from 5:00 – 8:00 PM with a prayer service at 8:00 PM at Schoeneberger Funeral Home in Perham. Visitation will also be held one hour prior to the funeral mass at the church. Burial will take place in the church cemetery.

Jim was born on December 26, 1929 in Wauwatosa, Wisconsin, the first son of Edward and Mary (Ulschmid) Wokasch. The family moved from Wisconsin to Evergreen, Minnesota soon after. Jim served four years in the Navy where he worked as a mechanic on the SS Yellowstone repair ship. Once he completed his years of service, he left from Barcelona, Spain and returned home on the battleship SS New Jersey. Jim then worked at Kinnen Boat Works where he met Marie Kinnen. Jim and Marie were married on April 16, 1959. They lived in Perham where Jim worked at Frank's Repair Shop. After that, he started to work with Jim Mahoney at Mahoney's Jewelry where he learned to do watch and clock repair. He then worked for Dale Wright repairing watches and clocks and later started his own business called Jim's Watch Shop. Throughout his life, Jim enjoyed being outdoors and loved to hunt, fish and trap wild game.

Surviving Jim is his wife, Marie; daughter, Autumn (Steven) Dinnel; grandsons, Austin and Isaiah Dinnel; brothers, Charles of Mahnomen, Minnesota, Lawrence of Perham, Minnesota, and Edward of Fargo, North Dakota.

Preceding Jim in death are his parents; and a brother, Peter Wokasch.
