Jean A. Lillis, age 76 of Perham, MN died Friday, March 13, 2015 in Perham Living. A memorial service will be held on Friday, March 20 beginning at 11:00 AM at Schoeneberger Funeral Home in Perham with Pastor Greg Leslie officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will be held in the Perham Village Cemetery.
Jean was born November 20, 1938 in Omaha, NE the daughter of William M. and Blanche E. (Hill) Smith. She attended Omaha South High before graduating high school at Perham, MN. Jean went on to graduate at the University of Mary and proceeded to work several years as a drug and alcohol counselor at Heartview in Mandan, ND. In 1956, Jean was united in marriage to Jack Lillis in Ottertail, MN. Together they had five children. Jean lived in several states including California, North Dakota, Alaska and Minnesota. With her adventurous spirit, Jean moved to Alaska in 1989. She was an avid fisherwoman while there; ice fishing and salmon fishing. She often hunted ducks and deer. Jean experienced so many different things in life working as a waitress, a bartender, and truck driver, working on the BNSF and even helping with the Exxon Valdez oil spill cleanup. She enjoyed camping, dancing, riding snowmobile, playing her guitar, traveling and being outside.
Surviving Jean are her children, Diane Lillis (Andy Heinle) of Bismarck, ND, Steve (Vicki) of Gilbert, AZ, Jerry (Sherry) of Lincoln, ND, Bob (Danita) of Mandan, ND and Rich (Arlene) of St. Cloud, MN; her grandchildren, Matt (Julie) Lillis, Christin (Steven) Stringfellow, Mark, Jake, Brooke, Paige, Nate, Chandra and Garrett; her great-grandchild, Peyton Lillis; her sister, Cathy Batman of Perham, MN; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceding Jean in death were her parents and her sisters, Liz Cook Edwards and Mary Ruth Sutton.
