John Doll

John F. Doll, 70 of Perham, MN passed away at his home under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley with family members present on Tuesday, July 22, 2014. John was born on February 17, 1944 at St. James Hospital in Perham to Alois and Catherine (Schornack) Doll. He served four years in the Army National Guard Reserves receiving an Honorable Discharge in 1966. He married Marcene Buechler on June 16, 1966 at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Perham. They lived in St. Louis Park, MN until moving back to Perham in 1972. He owned and operated West Main Auto Body for over twenty years until his retirement in 2006.

John enjoyed deer hunting using rifle, pistol and bow and arrow. He enjoyed cooking, traveling around the United States and to foreign countries. The most recent travel was to Hawaii in February of 2014. Very precious to him was time spent with his family and grandchildren. For the past 8 years he was a dedicated member of the Dent American Legion Post #148 serving as an active member of the Honor Guard.

He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Marcene; his two children, Christine (Michael) Gebeke of Hoover, Alabama and Joel (Michelle) Doll; his two grandchildren, Rachel and Nathan Doll of Sioux Falls, SD; his siblings, Linda (Ronald) Bjelland and Gary (Cathy) Doll both of Perham.

Preceding John in death are his parents; and brother, William "Bill" Doll.

Visitation will be held on Monday, July 28, 2014 beginning at 10:00 AM followed by the memorial mass at 11:00 AM all at St. Henry's Catholic Church in Perham. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
