Funeral services for Jon Eric Knuttila, age 41, of Truro, MA, formerly of Perham, MN, will be Monday, January 26, 2004, at St. Henry's Catholic Church, Perham, MN, beginning at 11:00 a.m., with Reverend David Rieder officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation at Schoeneberger Funeral Home, Perham, is from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m., with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m.
Jon was born in Perham, MN, June 5, 1962, attended St. Henry's Parochial School and graduated from Perham High School in 1980. Upon graduation from Saint John's University in 1984, Jon Eric was employed by Dayton Hudson Department Stores as an Area Manager, moved to New York City as a Merchandise Manager for Macy's and then as a District Manager for Williams-Sonoma in both New York and Los Angeles. Jon returned to Minneapolis in 1991 as a District Manager for the Great Lakes and Minneapolis Districts for Banana Republic/GAP. Jon moved to Truro, MA in 2001 where he lived with his companion and partner, Paul Nunes and their dog Judy until his valiant battle with cancer ended at Cape Cod Hospital in Hyannis, MA on January 19, 2004.
Jon Eric was a power of example to all who witnessed his faith, courage, strength and hope throughout his lifetime.
As exuberant as his favorite color yellow, Jon was spirited by a grateful heart. His love of music, as expressed through his playing the pipe organ at Saint Henry's Church, and his endless devotion to family and friends will never be forgotten. Because of Jon's love of the color yellow, no one will be able to witness another sunrise without thinking of him.
Preceded in death by his brother Jeffrey Knuttila in 1978, Jon Eric is survived by his parents Roland and Luella (Peleske) Knuttila, of Perham, MN, and siblings Marcia Knuttila of Thief River Falls, MN, Steven Knuttila and his wife Joanne of Detroit Lakes, Gery Knuttila and his wife Kristine of Fargo, ND, Glenn Knuttila of Saint Paul, MN, Lynee Knuttila-Soto of Thousand Oaks, CA, twelve beloved nephews and nieces, and his life partner Paul Nunes.
