The strong spirit, resilience and faith that carried Joyce Ann Wegscheid through her life has carried her to heaven. Joyce passed away on July 12, 2026, at age 92. She was one of nine daughters and six sons born to Margaret and Lawrence Lemna. Her twin sister, Joan, died in infancy at 6 months from whooping cough. Joyce was born in Lisbon and grew up on farms in locations across southeast North Dakota. She was the first of her siblings to enroll in and graduate from college with an associate degree in nursing. During college, Joyce was introduced to Robert (Bob) Willenbring. They were married in 1958 and together raised 9 children across Linton, Minot and Dickinson, ND. They divorced in 1987 and Joyce subsequently received an annulment from the Catholic Church.
In 1995, Joyce married Erv Wegscheid and moved to Erv's home on Paul Lake near Perham, MN. Those were her most joyous years, entertaining family at the lake, hosting Erv's classic car club, building friendships and actively participating in her church. Eventually they moved to a new home in Dent, MN.
In her later years, Joyce moved to Perham to be close to her church and community of friends. She eventually moved to assisted living, finally residing at Like Mother, Like Daughter where she spent her final months.
Joyce was deeply devoted to her faith and practiced it daily. She was also passionate about family, friendships, sewing, gardening, canning, homemade meals and bread, and outdoor walks.
Joyce is preceded in death by six brothers, seven sisters, her daughter Geralynn Goddard, her grandson Jeffrey Goddard and her husband Erv Wegscheid.
Joyce is survived by her sister Darlene, her children, Gordon (Joyce), Sheri (Nathan), Henry (Angela), Maureen (Andy), Dale (Connie), Luke (Cathy), Veronica (Doug), Anthony (Holly), 19 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild, 9 step grandchildren, many nephews, nieces, extended family and dear friends.
We are very thankful to the caring and kind staff at Like Mother, Like Daughter and Moments Hospice that kept Mom comfortable in her final days.
