Judy Hangartner

Judy Marie (Luke) Hangartner, age 84, passed peacefully on Friday, June 13, 2025 at M Health Fairview University of Minnesota Medical Center, Minneapolis, MN.

Judy was born in Wyoming, IA on September 26, 1940 to Fred and Florence (First) Luke. She attended school in the Wyoming school district and graduated from the University of Dubuque with BA in education. She taught second grade at public schools in Des Moines, IA and in Colorado Springs, CO for a period of five years. After her teaching years ended, she raised two sons. Later in life, she spent eight years working for Weight Watchers and five years working for Nation Benefits Company.

In 1962, she was united in marriage to Jerry Hangartner, and together the couple resided in Des Moines. They later made homes in five other locations. Upon her retirement, Judy became very involved in art projects, making cards, stamping, cooking, and baking.

Judy was a member of Maine Presbyterian Church near Underwood, MN, where she sang in the choir, coordinated décor in the sanctuary, and helped with the church's finances.

Preceding Judy in death were her parents and three siblings. She is survived by her husband, Jerry; sons, Vaughn (Tom) of Dublin, CA and Garth (Julie) of Wasilla, AK; three grandchildren, Annalise of Fairbanks, AK, and Ian and Del, both of Wasilla; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
