Kareen Torgerson

Kareen Ann Torgerson (Jacklitch), 64, of Richville, MN, passed away on December 23, 2025 at Sanford Medical Center in Fargo, ND after a long and courageous battle with cancer. She was born on April 30, 1961 at St. Francis Hospital in Breckenridge, MN to LeRoy and Mercedes (Merrick) Jacklitch.

She was raised on a farm near Campbell, MN and attended Campbell Public Schools. After graduating from Campbell Tintah High School, she attended the North Dakota State College of Science, majoring in secretarial studies. After college, she worked at American Family Insurance until she moved to the Twin Cities area where she worked for State Farm Corporate Office, until retiring on December 30, 2018.

Kareen had a deep love of nature, expressed over the years in her volume of photographs taken of wildlife, flowers, and eclectic scenery. She was always quick with a smile, engaging in a creative sense of humor that was ever present.

She had an encyclopedic of knowledge of classic rock n roll, able to identify a song within the first few chords being played. She loved the music of life and enjoyed attending many concerts.

She was the consummate aunt to all her nieces and nephews, always to be the most supportive of their activities. Her love of animals was apparent with her always having one or two pet cats that were totally spoiled. Her two current companions, Lacy and Lil Stinker are going to be lost without their “mother”.

Kareen’s legacy of love, faith, prayer, and kindness lives on in all who were blessed to know her.

Kareen is survived by her loving husband, Tom; siblings, Bruce (Pam) Jacklitch, Michael (Mary) Jacklitch, Randal (Annie) Jacklitch, Carmen Jacklitch, Don Jacklitch, Ron Jacklitch; and many nieces and nephews.

Kareen was preceded in death by her parents, LeRoy and Mercedes Jacklitch; sister, Karla Hofmann; sister-in-law, Corene Jacklitch; mother and father in-law, Donald and Betty Torgerson; niece, Tanya Sazama; and nephews, Damien Jacklitch, Shane Hofmann, and Jared Kawlewski.

Kareen’s burial will be held on June 27, 2026 at 12:00 p.m. at the Richville Village Cemetery with a Celebration of Life to follow at Dave and Barb’s lake home in Richville, MN.
