Karol was born on December 14th, 1945 at St. James Hospital in Perham, MN to Henry and Phyllis (Priest) Kirchenwitz. She was a woman of strong faith. She loved attending church and Bible Study at Immanuel Lutheran Church and was active in Ladies Aide. Karols drive in life were the relationships she held: with God, her family, and friends. She enjoyed the little things like visiting around a campfire, playing canasta, and mexican train every Friday evening. Karol kept a good balance of duties and enjoyment. She cherished the memories made travelling. She had a way of gathering loved ones; whether it be in a pew, around the dinner table, or the campfire ring. Karol had such a kind, open heart. Talking with her was effortless. She was a dedicated daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend. Her life was as full as her heart.

Karol is survived by her children, Melody (John Jr.) Zehner of Gilbert, AZ, Cameron (Culleen) of Detroit Lakes, MN, Crystal (David) of Dent, MN, and Holly Dahl of Detroit Lakes, MN; her brother, Charlie (Sandy) Kirchenwitz of Dent, MN; her eight grandchildren, John Zehner III of Gilbert, AZ, Steven Harthun of Fargo, ND, Cameron Harthun Jr. of 29 Palms, CA, Nicole Harthun of Moorhead, MN, Amanda Collins and Andrew Collins of Dent, MN, Brianna Bennett of Detroit Lakes, MN and Blaine Bennett of Gilbert, AZ; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Glen Harthun and Stan Gardner; her great niece, Larissa Kirchenwitz; and dear friend, Carol Meader.
