Kathryn "Katie" Eickschen

Katie Eickschen, age 85 of Perham, MN died from a massive stroke on Thursday, April 26, 2018 surrounded by her family and staff at Perham Living. Visitation will begin at 12:30 p.m. followed by the funeral service at 1:30 p.m. on Monday, April 30 at Crosspoint Alliance Church in Perham with Pastor Michael Bochman officiating. Private interment will be held at the Perham Village Cemetery.

Kathryn Ruth Hammers was born May 15, 1932 in Dent, MN to Henry and Lora (Stolp) Hammers. She graduated from Perham High School and on June 30, 1951 she was united in marriage to Dick Eickschen.

Wife, mom and grammy, Katie will be remembered as being a devoted housewife raising their four children at home wearing a cleaning rag on her shoulder. Katie had the gift of Helps, and in her extremely selfless way, she compassionately volunteered at her church and around the Perham community. She had a deep love for her grandchildren scheduling “Grammy Days” with each of them individually, building incredible golden childhood memories for them all. She loved nature and doing various activities outside, earning her the nickname – “out of doors girl” by her husband.

Surviving Katie are her children Sandy (John) Charles, Connie (Mark) Koehnen and Dan (Sue) Eickschen; her daughter-in-law Sherry (Greg) Larson; nine grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren with one on the way; her sisters Rose (Jim) Limmer and Maryann (Bernie) Nolz; her sisters-in-law Florence (Bob) Hammers, Nelda (Ed) Hammers and Bonnie (Joe) Hammers, Mary (Eickschen) Finds Places; along with many nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Preceding Katie in death were her parents; her husband Dick (2012); her son Mike (1993); and her brothers Ed Hammers, Frank (Ellie) Hammers, Don (Betty) Hammers, Bob Hammers, baby Raymond Hammers and Joe Hammers.

Katie will be deeply missed by her family, staff members and residents of Northwinds and Perham Living and everyone who knew her. God bless you Momzy.
