Larry Urvand

Larry R. Urvand, age 68, of Richville , MN , died Sunday, March 14, 2010 , at the Golden Living Center-Ottertail Lake, Battle Lake , MN .


Larry Rodney Urvand was born September 24, 1941 , in McVille , ND , to Lester B. and Ruth A. (Brekken) Urvand. He graduated from McVille High School in 1959 and then attended Wahpeton State School of Science graduating from Mechanics and Welding. In 1961 he enlisted in the US Navy where he served as an electricians mate aboard the USS Braine DD-630 until his discharge in 1965. He met Lorraine McAllister in 1965 and they were united in marriage on February 12, 1966 , in Breckenridge , MN . They lived in McVille until May 1967 when they moved to Richville , MN . They moved back to McVille from 1969-1973 when they came back to MN to make it their permanent home. Larry worked for Con-Agra Flour Mill in Fergus Falls , MN , for sixteen years. In 1991 he began to drive semi truck until 2006 when he fully retired. He loved to go camping, fishing and attending auction sales.



Larry is survived by three children, Michael (Karen) Urvand, Shakopee, MN; Matthew Urvand, Alexandria, MN; and Melissia (Daniel) Mattfeld, New York Mills, MN; four grandchildren, Alexandra and Mackenzie Urvand, Fergus Falls, MN; and Jordan and Julia Mattfeld, New York Mills, MN; one step-granddaughter, Caroline Saxe, Shakopee, MN; two brothers, Richard (Diane) Urvand, McVille, ND; and Mark (Bev) Urvand, Devils Lake, ND; and many loving in-laws, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.



Preceding Larry in death are his parents, Lester and Ruth; wife, Lorraine ; and a daughter, Michelle.
