Lenora Minnie Hartwig, 94, a resident of Perham Living Center-Sanford, Perham, MN, died peacefully on Wednesday, February 22, 2012, the same day her beloved husband, Wilfred Hartwig, died 47 years ago.
Lenora was born April 13, 1917, in Pine Lake Township, to Emil and Amalia (Steeke) Matz. She grew up on the family farm and attended country school. Lenora married Wilfred Hartwig on July 25, 1942. They farmed in Pine Lake Township until his death on February 22, 1965. Wilfred and Lenora were blessed with 3 children, Don (Pam) Hartwig, of Fargo, ND, Gary (Carol) Hartwig, and Betty (David) Greiff, both of Perham, MN.
After Wilfred's death, Lenora sold the farm and moved into Perham where she worked at the Perham Hospital and Home for many years. In October 1977, Lenora married George Rader and they continued to live in Perham. George died in June 1981. Lenora enjoyed her family and friends and many remember the wonderful family dinners she served and the card games that followed. She especially loved it when family and friends joined her at the Perham Living Center for a visit and a game of cards or dominoes.
Surviving Lenora are her 3 children; 7 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-granddaughter; her sisters, Emma Rosen, Elsie (Roy) Martin and her sister-in-law, Leona Matz as well as many nieces and nephews.
Preceding Lenora in death are her parents; husband, Wilfred Hartwig; husband, George Rader; grandsons, Brian Hartwig, and Kevin Hartwig; brother, Edwin Matz; sister, Esther Schave; sister-in-law, Marcella Ogroske and brothers-in-law, Herb Rosen and Irvin Schave.
