Leonard Damlo

Leonard Christian Damlo, age 98, of Perham, MN, died Thursday, September 13, 2012 at the Elders Home in New York Mills, MN. A funeral service will be held on Monday, September 17, 2012 beginning at 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Perham, with Pastor Carl Noble officiating. Burial will take place in the St. Paul's Lutheran Church Cemetery. Visitation will also be held at the church one hour prior to the service.
Leonard was born June 29, 1914 in rural Dent, MN, the son of Martin and Margarite (Gaenzle) Damlo. He was baptized on July 26, 1914, and also confirmed on June 17, 1928 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Perham. He was united in marriage to Thelma Fuller at Balsamlund Lutheran Church near Aldrich, MN on June 10, 1944.
Leonard worked for farmers in the Perham area and then for Merickel Lumber Mills in Wadena for 45 years. He moved to Perham in 1987. He was an elder in St. John's Church in Wadena for many years and was on the building committee for the present church there.
Leonard is preceded in death by his parents, a brother Clarence, a sister Elsie Hughes, son-in- law Jack Rautio, and daughter-in-law Nina burke.
Leonard is survived by his wife Thelma Fern (Fuller) Damlo and 4 children; Gary of St. Paul, Linda Rautio of Menahga, Arlen of Hackensack, and Susan Carlson of Maple Grove. He is also survived by many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren.
