Letty Mae (McGowan) Shasky, age 87 of Ottertail, MN passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 21, 2014 surrounded by her family members and her pastor. Visitation will be held on Friday, October 24 from 5:00 - 8:00 PM with a prayer service at 7:00 PM at the Richville United Methodist Church. Visitation will resume on Saturday, October 25 beginning at 10:00 AM followed by the funeral service at 11:00 AM at the Richville United Methodist Church with Pastor Rod Tornquist officiating. Burial will follow in the Richville Village Cemetery, Richville, MN.
Letty was born in Oak Valley Township on December 13, 1926, the daughter of Walter and Hortense (Larson) McGowan. Her family moved to the Rush Lake area soon after her birth. Letty Mae graduated from Perham High School in 1946. In 1949, Letty was united in marriage to Floyd Shasky. Together they moved to Fargo, ND. After Floyd's passing in 1963, Letty moved to Detroit Lakes, MN and worked at Detroit State Bank. When Letty retired, she moved in to her new home on Buchanan Lake.
Letty loved to garden and fish and will be remembered as a very active and devoted member of the Richville United Methodist Church.
Preceding Letty in death are her parents; her husband, Floyd; and three brothers.
Surviving Letty are her sisters, Betty Limmer, and Jennie (Francis) Brown; her brother, Melvin (Carol) McGowan; her sister-in-law, Charlotte Torgusson; her two brothers-in-law, Jim (Sylvia) Shasky and Bob (Millie) Shasky; along with many nieces, nephews and friends.
