Lorraine Olson

April 23, 1927 — December 20, 2016

Lorraine Belle Olson, 89, died peacefully on December 20, 2016 at the Thomas House in Perham, MN. She was born April 23, 1927 in Henning, MN to August and Belle (Halvorson) Loser. Lorraine grew up on a farm with her parents and three siblings Margaret, Kenny and LaVella in rural Henning where she also attended a small country school.

In October of 1947, Lorraine married Marland T. Olson at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Henning and together they had three children, Larry, Linda and Brenda. They lived in Henning until 1960 when they moved to Hopkins, MN. In 1972, Marland retired and the family moved back to Henning.

Lorraine loved spending time with her family and friends. Her love of gardening, country music, old-time dances at HiWay Park, shopping, crocheting and sewing all brought her much joy. Unfortunately, in her later years glaucoma took away her eyesight and dementia her memory.

Lorraine was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Marland; her sister Margaret; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law Kenneth Olson, Addy Loser, Lorna and Raymond Zunker, Shirley and Howard Nelson and Art Johnson.

Surviving Lorraine is her son Larry Olson of Chapparal, NM; her daughters Linda (Dan) Quick of Grand Marais, MN and Brenda (Todd) Sandahl of New York Mills, MN; grandsons Devon (Arika) Quick and Taylor (Emma Covington) Sandahl; great-grandchildren Maren and Tate Quick; her brother Ken Loser; and her sister LaVella (Dale) Berger; along with many cousins, nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, February 3, 2017 beginning at 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul's Lutheran Church - 700 Douglas Ave, Henning, MN 56551.
