Louella Sheets

Louella D. Sheets, age 89, of Perham , MN , formerly of Breckenridge , MN , died Saturday, September 20, 2008 , at the Perham Memorial Nursing Home.


Louella Dorothy Ballard was born November 28, 1918 , the daughter of Wesley and Dorthy (Dunn) Ballard in Pelican Rapids, MN. She grew up and attended school in Pelican Rapids. Louella met Harvey Alvah Sheets on a blind date and they were married October 13, 1940 . They had been married 49 years when Harvey died on July 2, 1990 .



Louella’s family and church were the most important things in her life. She was a great cook and loved to bake. She volunteered with Meals on Wheels, church committees, and AWANA Bible Club. She also loved to spend time at the cabin on Star Lake . In 1997, Louella lost her home in Breckenridge to the flood and decided to make the move to Perham. There she met many new friends. She stayed active attending church and senior functions. You would often see her at the Perham Area Community Center doing water exercises. When her health started to fail in March 2006, Louella moved to the Perham Memorial Nursing Home. Once again, she made many new friends and joined in with many of the activities at the home.



Louella was a member of the First Baptist Church in Breckenridge and attended Community Alliance Church in Perham. Her faithfulness in reading God’s Word daily never wavered throughout her life. Even when living at the Nursing Home, her joy was her family as she prayed for them daily.



Louella is survived by her four children; Roger Sheets, Mesa, AZ; Steve (Lisa) Sheets, Perham, MN; Sharon (Dale) Converse, Northville, MI; and Liz (Craig) Nelson, Moorhead, MN; seven grandchildren, Chris (Michelle) Converse, Julie (Lee) Horning, Tim Nelson, Philip Nelson, Holly Sheets, Paige Nelson, and Taylor Nelson; four great grandchildren, Caroline and Olivia Converse, and Winton and Maxwell Horning; a sister, Phyllis Lanning, Apple Valley, MN; and many nieces and nephews.



Preceding Louella in death are her parents; husband, Harvey; daughter, Jacqueline; brothers, Raymond, Russell, and Clifford; and sisters, Clara, Alta, and Temple .
