Lourline "Lori" A. Kahles

Lourline “Lori” Kahles, age 80, passed away January 31, 2023, at her home in Dent, MN, under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley.

Lori was born in Wadena, MN on April 19, 1942. She graduated high school in Bigfork, MN in 1960. She worked many years in the Twin Cities as a bookkeeper and in restaurant management. Lori loved to cook and baked everything old school, just the way her grandma and mom did. Later in life, she enjoyed game shows, jigsaw puzzles, word searches, word games, sewing, and talking on the phone with her siblings and children. For the last few years, Lori enjoyed the lake life with her dog, Millie, and watching the sunsets and the sun rising across the lake. She also enjoyed growing her plants and teaching her son-in-law canning. She baked up a storm, day or night, for everyone to enjoy. Lori enjoyed painting, coloring, and the calls from siblings. She got excited about the visits from the deer in the yard and the occasional drop-in of the neighbor’s cows. All these things she enjoyed, but if anyone knew Lori, they would know her true love of life was her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She never could get enough of them. Being able to watch them learn and grow has been nothing but a true blessing, joy, and love of her every moment and breath until the end.

Lourline was preceded in death by her parents, Leona and William Bain; ex-husband, Robert Kahles; significant other, Joe Brown; brother, Jim Bain; son, Robert Kevin Kahles; and grandson, Nathaniel James Boykin.

Lourline is survived by her three children, Edward Kahles, Michele and Sean Ward, and Nickie and Shannon Suhl; seven grandchildren, Amanda Kahles, Rebecca Fugitt, Joseph Kahles, Sean Ward, Michael Ward, Ashley Ward, and Cheyanne Kahles; three great-grandchildren, Carson Fugitt, Masson Fugitt, and Brooklynn Kahles; and her siblings, William Bain, Bud Bain, Richard Bain, Elvera Ableman, Doreen Bain, Roy Bain, Larry Bain, Phyllis Sandberg, Steve Bain, Jeffery Bain, Alice Poser, Maxine Stierns, Kevin Bain, and Dale Bain.
