Lucille Butler

Florence Lucille Butler, 89, passed away on June 27, 2014 at The Thomas House in Perham, Minnesota. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 2 beginning at 12:00 noon at the United Methodist Church in Perham followed by the memorial service at 1:00 PM. Burial will be held in Calvary Memorial Cemetery, near Perham.

Born Florence Lucille Book on June 27, 1925, on their farm near Rugby, North Dakota, she attended North Dakota Agricultural College (NDSU) and graduated with a degree in Bacteriology. It was there she met Aubrey Butler and the two were married on March 20, 1948. They first moved to Wisconsin, and then later relocated to Decorah, Iowa; Dubuque and then Mason City where she raised her six children, and later worked for the Mason City School District, NIACC and ConAgra Labs. In 1986, they moved to their once-vacation home on Schuster Lake, outside of Perham.

Lucille had several hobbies, including painting, gardening, golf, church activities, and of course family gatherings.

She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Aubrey, six children, nine grandchildren and four great grandchildren: son William (Bill), his wife Cathy, of Annapolis, Maryland, their two children Amy (husband David and children Emily, Allison and Julie) and Michael; son Dale (and wife Patricia) of Frisco, Colorado; daughter Jan Butler-Mott (and husband Randall) of Breckenridge, Colorado; daughter Betty Koenig (and husband Michael) of Silverthorne, Colorado and their children Emma Chambers-Koenig (and husband Drew) and son Charles; daughter Barbara Theiss (husband John) of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida (and their children John Jr. and Tessa); and son Jeffrey (wife Margo) of Crookston, Minnesota and their children Adam (wife Jade and daughter Sienna), Lucas and Daphne; sister Ethel Kent of Hatton, ND and sisters-in-law Joan Engel of Frazee, Minnesota and Jane Book of Mesa, AZ; and many wonderful friends.
