Margaret Kremer

March 5, 1924 — October 13, 2012

Margaret R. Kremer was born the daughter of Clemence and Martha (Sczygiel) Palubicki on March 5, 1924 in Port Chicago, CA, where she attended her first two years of school. In 1931 her family moved to Perham where she completed the remainder of her schooling. Following graduation from high school she married Leonard Kremer on June 22, 1942.

In 1952, the family moved to Mounds View, MN (a suburb of Minneapolis), where their five children finished school and where Margaret worked for Electric Machinery in various clerical positions for 36 years.

Margaret possessed seemingly boundless energy! While working full time and caring for her large family, she completed many courses at the University of Minnesota. She also was an accomplished seamstress and spent evenings sewing beautiful dresses and other clothing for her children. She and Leonard were avid gardeners, and they grew much of their family's food in an extensive garden and orchard on their property. Margaret was also an accomplished baker, who taught 4-H girls the fine points of bread baking. Her caramel and nut sweet rolls were loved by everyone!

After her children graduated from college and left home, Margaret resumed her love of literature and libraries. She read everything she could find. In her retirement years she traveled widely throughout Europe and the United States. Her last major trip was to Poland in 2004 where she located extended Palubicki family members, in the town of Palubice, named after her paternal ancestors.

Following her retirement in 1990, Margaret and her husband moved back to Perham in 1992. She was thrilled to be back in Perham where she loved volunteering at the Nursing Home, fishing with her brother Clarence, quilt making, gardening and playing cards with friends (especially her favorite card group The Merry Widows).

Margaret was preceded in death by her husband Leonard, her father and mother, Clemence Palubicki and Martha Palubicki Dulski, her brother Jerome and sister-in-law Mary Ann, brothers Art and Clarence, granddaughter Cheryl Rones, step-brother Raymond Dulski and step-father Frank Dulski.

She is survived by five children, all of whom were born in Perham, seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren: Daughter Kathryn Rones, Columbia Heights, MN and her daughter Kelly LeBlanc (Dan) and children Evan Tienken and Miranda LeBlanc; Son Jack and Lorna Kremer of Bloomington, MN and their daughters Cari O'Connor (Kevin) and children Aidan, Emma, and Cecilia, and Cindy Moen (Dave) and sons Garrett and Nicholas; son Allan Kremer of Laurel, MD and his sons Ben and Bill and daughters Alice Congdon (Matt) and son Vincent, and Kate and daughter Vailet; son Steven (Dennis) and Sherell Kremer of Lemon Grove, CA; and daughter Linda Kremer and John Gilman of Berkeley, CA.

She is also survived by sisters-in-law Delas Palubicki of Perham and Betty Palubicki of Racine, WI and many nieces, nephews and dear friends.
