Marie Slechta, 95 of Perham, MN passed away peacefully on October 15th at Perham Living. A funeral service will be held Friday, October 19, 2012 beginning at 11:00 am at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Dent, MN. Visitation will also be held at the church on Thursday, October 18, 2012 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm with a prayer service at 7:00 pm. Burial will take place at Sacred Heart Catholic Church Cemetery.
Marie was born May 5, 1917 in St. Paul MN to Charles and Mary Schneider. In 1938 she married Richard (Dick) Slechta. Marie was employed many years by the St. Paul Pioneer Press until she retired in 1979. Marie and Dick moved to Dent, MN after retirement and later Marie moved to Perham.
Marie enjoyed quilting, reading, working on crossword puzzles and spending time with friends. She liked gardening, feeding the birds and had a great appreciation for all God's gifts. She was an active member of Sacred Heart Church.
Marie is preceded in death by her husband Richard, her twin sister Helen Lau, brothers Fred and Carl Schneider, and sisters Martha Schweitzer and Eve Steadman.
Marie is survived by many nieces, nephews and a wealth of friends. She will be deeply missed.
