Marrian Holmberg

Marrian K. Holmberg, age 72, of Perham , MN , died Wednesday, December 17, 2008 , at the Perham Memorial Hospital .


Marrian Kathryn Holmberg was born June 16, 1936 , in St. Paul , MN , the daughter of Joseph and Wilhelmina Meyer. After graduating from high school, Marrian was introduced to James Holmberg by a mutual friend at a café in St. Paul . They wed shortly after on April 12, 1955 . After relocating to Billings , MT , and then Yakima , WA , in 1959, Marrian decided to serve as a Deputy Sheriff for the Yakima County Sheriff’s Department.



After a few years they decided to move back to Minnesota where they chose their first adopted son, James, Jr. in June of 1968, and their second adopted son, Edward, in September 1970. The next seventeen years were spent raising the boys and building lifelong friendships. After the kids graduated high school, James and Marrian retired in Perham, a place she cherished due to the numerous years the family spent vacationing there every summer. Marrian was married for 49 ½ years when the love of her life passed away.



Marrian’s life was all about the taking care of others; her generosity and selflessness are inspiring. She was an amazing mother and wife who enjoyed various crafts and games as well as spending time with family and friends. Marrian will be greatly missed.



Marrian is survived by two sons, Edward Holmberg, Perham , MN ; and James Holmberg, Jr., Minneapolis, MN; a brother, Edward Meyer, Crystal, MN; and honorary daughter, Stephanie Wells, IL.



Preceding Marrian in death are her parents; husband of almost fifty years; and her beloved Pug, Otis.
