Millie Matson

Millie L. Matson, age 100, of Perham , MN , died Monday, October 19, 2009 , at the Frazee Care Center , Frazee , MN .


Millie was born May 12, 1909 , in Corliss Township , Perham , MN , the daughter of Ernest and Amelia (Huwe) Ogroske. On June 10, 1931 , she was united in marriage to Clarence Meyer and later was married to Gaylord Matson. Millie started work at age 15 cooking. After she was married she farmed with her husband taking care of the cows, pigs and chickens and also growing grain. Millie entered the Frazee Care Center in 2006.



Millie is survived by a daughter, Donna (Vernon) Wendt, Vergas, MN; and a son, David Meyer, Perham, MN; seven grandchildren; twenty-seven great grandchildren; nineteen great great-grandchildren; two sisters, Esther Johnson, Perham, MN; and Helen (Ed) Lenius, Perham, MN; a sister-in-law, Marcella Ogroske, Perham, MN; and many nieces and nephews.



Preceding Millie in death are her parents; husbands, Clarence and Gaylord;  a grandson; a great granddaughter; three brothers, William, Edward and Emil Ogroske; and five sisters, Martha Kraus, Margaret Arndt, Lydia Lucke, Ida Meyer and Ruth Derke.
