Norma Wenzel, age 91 of Perham, MN passed away Sunday, June 8, 2014 at Perham Health. Visitation for Norma will be from 5-7 p.m., with a prayer service at 7 p.m., Wednesday, June 11 at Schoeneberger Funeral Home in Perham. Visitation will continue from 1-2 p.m., followed by the funeral at 2 p.m., Thursday, June 12 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Perham. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Norma Lucy Ress was born on November 30, 1922, the youngest of 10 children, to Gustav and Anna (Fischer) Ress in Manilla, Iowa.
On December 16, 1943, she married Rockley Wenzel in Manilla, Iowa where they farmed for 16 years before buying a resort on Little McDonald Lake outside Perham in 1959.
Norma was extremely talented and loved music and crafts, and was an excellent seamstress and artist. Her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, however, were the light of her life.
Preceding Norma in death are her parents; her husband, Rockley, of 46 years; and 8 of her siblings. She is survived by her children, Diana Lenius of Perham, David (Alice) Wenzel of rural Frazee; 8 grandchildren, Scott (Analou) Lenius with 3 great-grandchildren; Tammy (Steve) Glover with 2 great-grandchildren, Penny (Tom) Lenius, Shari Lenius with one great-grandchild, Kari (Andrew) Gwost; Danyelle (Darryl) Bartholomay, Ashley (Shad) Nunn with 2 great-grandchildren, and Courtney (Brooke) Wenzel with one great-grandchild.
