Phyllis Meyer, age 86, of Perham, MN, died Thursday, September 13, 2012 at Perham Living. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, September 15, 2012 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Perham, MN with Pastor Carl Noble officiating. Burial will follow the service in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held at the church one hour prior to the service.
Phyllis was born November 5, 1925 in Whitley County, Indiana, the daughter of Leo and Dorothy (Hively) Smith. She graduated from Huntertown, Indiana, High School in 1943.
Phyllis married Norman Meyer on February 24, 1946 in Churbusco, Indiana. Norman and Phyllis moved to Perham in 1946 where they raised their two children, Donald and Nancy.
Phyllis made a career as a secretary at A.S.C. for over 20 years. She loved music and teaching piano. She sang in the church choir and remained steadfast in her faith. Her artistic talents were showcased in her paintings and gardening. She saw the beauty in everything and everyone. Bridge, golf, and great-grandchildren blessed her retirement years.
She will be dearly missed by her son, Donald (Donna) of Perham, MN. Three brothers, Roger (Karen) Smith, David (Jan) Smith, and Rev. Larry (Rose Ann) Smith, all residing in Indiana; brother-in-law, Max Waterson, Indiana; sister-in-law, Joan Smith, Indiana; three grandchildren, Nichole (Travis) Boyd, Glyndon, MN, Brian (Renah) Meyer, Perham, MN, Brooke (Edward) Adamczyk, Perham, MN; seven great-grandchildren, Olivia, Lucie, Molly, Danielle, Austan, Nathan, Dylan, and another one on the way.
Preceding Phyllis in death are her parents, her husband Norm, her brothers Don and Max Smith, her sister Marilyn Waterson, a daughter Nancy, and an infant grandson, Nathan.
