Robert E Dickerson

Robert E. Dickerson, age 91 of Perham,MN passed away peacefully, surrounded by family on Friday, August 14, 2026 at Like Mother, Like Daughter Assisted Living.

Robert Ernest Dickerson “Bob” was born to Ernest and Ethel (Foster) Dickerson on February 6, 1935. He grew up in Menahga and served in the Navy during the Korean War from 1952-53.

Upon his return from the service, he resided in Fergus Falls, and fell in love with Dolly Kay Miller. They were married on 8/11/57 at Zion Lutheran Church and were blessed with seven children. Their first six children were born in Fergus Falls before they relocated to Austin, MN where their youngest was born. They later moved to Duluth, MN and finally settled in the Dent/Perham area in 1978.

In his early years, Bob held many jobs before finding great success as a sales manager for Electrolux. In 1986, Bob and Dolly opened "Bob’s Vacuum" in Perham, where he faithfully served his community and customers until his passing.

Bob enjoyed watching sports (Vikings, Twins, Gophers), playing cards, deer hunting, and spending time with family and friends. He was not always a good sport -as his kids could attest to-especially when Dolly would beat him at cribbage. They enjoyed trips to Mexico together, and he greatly appreciated his many cruises with the Wilsons.

He is remembered for his sense of humor, storytelling and his many one-liners. He could sell anything but was also a salesman’s dream. He was well known as the “vacuum guy” and loved helping his customers over the years. He would introduce each of his daughters as his “favorite daughter,” and could convince any of us that we were the “best” at doing a particular task, to convince us to do it again.

Bob was proud to have built their retirement home under the direction of Monte, and with the help of his sons and sons-in-law, his time spent in the Navy, his many children, and grandchildren, and his success with Electrolux. He greatly missed his wife of nearly 65 years after her passing on January 8, 2022.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Patricia Mull; and wife Dolly.

He is survived by sister, Lois Dickerson of Napa, CA; sister-in-law, Joanne Walkup of Dilworth, MN; children, Monte (Jane) Dickerson of Perham, Kristi (Kevin) Linnell of Becker, MN, Jeffry (Sharon) Dickerson of Richville, MN, Todd (Jane) Dickerson of Fargo, ND, Julie (Mike) Engelking of Moorhead, MN, Bobbi (Doug) Adams of Wadena, MN and Jodee (Jon) Ebeling of Perham; special nephew, Bob and Mary Lou Wilson of Napa, CA; as well as 19 grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.

Visitation will be 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., followed by the Memorial Service at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, September 18th, 2026, at Schoeneberger Funeral & Cremation Service in Perham. Private Family Burial will take place at the Perham City Cemetery.
