Robert R. Johnson

Robert R. Johnson, age 85, passed away Monday, May 29, 2023 at Perham Health Hospital in the company of loved ones.

Robert Russell Johnson was born to Jack and Dorothy (Russell) Johnson on January 2, 1938 in Jamestown, ND. He grew up in Wimbledon, ND and attended school there, where he excelled at basketball, track, and field. He spent numerous hours with his father, Jack learning how to drive truck and realized his true passion.

Bob met the love of his life, Darlene Henry, and they were married June 7, 1957 in Wimbledon, ND. After uniting in marriage, Bob joined the Navy. They made their home in Corpus Christi, TX and California for a time before returning to Wimbledon. In 1966, they moved to the West Fargo and Horace areas. Upon moving to West Fargo/Horace, he worked for Red Owl driving semi. In 1984, Darlene joined him as an over the road trucker for TBI. Bob and Darlene hung up their keys for retirement in 2004. They shared nine more years together before she passed in 2013. After Darlene's passing, he met his second great love, Arilda (Seifert) Johnson. They were joined in marriage on March 31, 2016 in Donna, TX. Together they shared many adventures and made great memories. They traveled and attended numerous sporting events for their grandchildren. They often spoke of how they would grow old together while sitting outside listening to the birds sing.

Family, including his pets, was of utmost importance to Bob. He loved the outdoors and often went camping. Along with camping, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and riding his Goldwing motorcycle. During his time indoors, he enjoyed watching old western movies and shows along with WWE wrestling. Bob had a heart of gold and a wonderful sense of humor that could bring a smile to everyone he knew.

He will be deeply missed by his wife, Arilda; two children, Terry Zick, and Torey (David) Neisen; eight step-children, Connie (Steve) Richter, Nora (Rick) Heinecke, Bill (Tammy) Januszewski, Andy (Shelly) Januszewski, Kevin (Caroline) Januszewski, Mary (Charlie) Schornack, Jenifer (Bob) Schempp, Liz (Mike) Urbach; several adored grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Dorothy; first wife, Darlene (Henry) Johnson; his sister, Anne Ringdahl, his two sons, Lonnie and Micheal; his stepson, Greg Januszewski; grandson, Jack Januszewski; and great grandson, David Kasin.

The family would like to give a special thank-you to Perham Health and Perham Living for the outstanding care and kindness they showed Bob and family through his final journey.

A Memorial Service for Mr. Robert Johnson will be held on Wednesday, June 14, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at Schoeneberger Funeral & Cremation in Perham, with Delton (Del) Stohs officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Robert will be laid to rest at Horace Lutheran Cemetery in Horace, ND.
