Robert Mitchell

Robert "Bob" Deland Mitchell, age 97 of Perham, passed away on October 13, 2023, at Perham Living. He was born on April 15, 1926, in Wabash, IN to Marie (Bellinger) and Robert Mitchell.

Bob attended a one-room schoolhouse in Wabash, Indiana. After completing school, he enlisted in the Air Corp and served his country until his honorable discharge in 1946. Following his military service, Bob pursued higher education at the University of Wisconsin at Madison. In his professional career, Bob worked for Firestone in the truck tire division.

On April 3, 1972, Bob was united in marriage to Susan Lewis in Fort Myers, Florida. It was that same year he relocated to Perham. It was here he joined the Otter Tail County Community Action as the Head of Weatherization.

Bob had several hobbies that brought him joy throughout his life. He enjoyed cooking and delighted in preparing meals for family and friends. Gardening was another pastime that allowed Bob to connect with nature and enjoy his home on the Otter Tail River. A craftsman at heart, Bob also found solace in woodworking. He possessed skills that allowed him to create pieces of furniture filled with love and dedication. Bob's love of traveling took him on various trips. He treasured the memories made during his travels and sharing them with family and friends.

Bob is survived by his wife of 51 years, Susan Mitchell of Perham; children, Kim (Michael) Hawk of Perham, Alec Mitchell of Plymouth, MN, Matt (Stacey) Mitchell of Perham, and Patricia Wilder of Fort Myers, FL; grandchildren, Laura, Michael, Amy, Jesse, Destiny, and Jennifer; as well as his great-grandchildren, Ava, Otto, Ivy Sue, Easton, Eden, Emery, Haydon, Sutton, Lennox, and Kiptyn.

Preceding Bob in death are his parents, Marie and Robert; sons, Stephen and Brian Mitchell; sister, Barbara May, and grandchild, Bo.
