Rodney Errol Wendt, age 65, peacefully passed onto his eternal heavenly home on March 1st, 2026, with family by his side while under the care of Moments Hospice at Vitality Assisted Living in New York Mills, MN.
Rodney was born to Eldred and Loretta (Jorgenson) Wendt in Perham, MN on February 28, 1961. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul's Lutheran Church of Perham, MN.
Rod proudly joined the US Army in August of 1980 and served as a tactical satellite/microwave systems operator. During his service Rod received an Army Service Ribbon and Expert Badges for his skills with the M16 Rifle before being Honorably Discharged in April of 1982.
Rod was a very skilled carpenter and worked on many projects; his favorite being the construction of the Bell County Central Jail in Texas. Rod was well known for his love of Harley Davidson Motorcycles, westerns and hunting. Once past the tough exterior, Rod was a man with a big heart who loved deeply, had a unique sense of humor and loved to give everyone a hard time, especially his favorite nurses who cared for him.
Rod was blessed with four children whom he loved very much. Among them his daughter, Misse (Chris) Paskey of Audubon, MN and his son, Jared Knutson of Osage, MN. He is also survived by his two sisters, Vicki (Mike) Uselman of Austin, TX and LaRae (Paul) Witsaman of Fort Worth, TX; one brother, Ronald (Patricia) Wendt of Shoreview, MN; seven grandchildren, Kianne, Matthew, Lee, Hallie, Brody, Gianna and Brityn; three great grandchildren, Raelyn, Amara and Issabella; along with numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
Rod was preceded in death by his parents, Eldred and Loretta; one brother, Rollin Wendt; and his grandparents.
The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to Moments Hospice, all of Rod's Favorites at Vitality Assisted Living and Schoeneberger Funeral Home & Cremation Services.
